Zinc recycling is of course already one of the most important ways of running a business as a sustainable activity. But in Rezinal, we want to excel in what we do. It is our mission to ensure that no zinc is lost, but will be recycled in the most efficient and ecological manner. This will keep zinc available for future generations, and the ecological footprint will be minimal.
To further strengthen our mission, Rezinal endorsed the Voka Charter Sustainable Entrepreneurship (VCDO). Voka (= the Flemish network of companies) offers companies the opportunity to work on sustainable entrepreneurship using a tailor-made and continuously optimized action plan based on the Sustainable Development Goals of the United Nations.
Sustainable Development Goals of the United Nations (SDGs)
In September 2015 Heads of State and Government agreed to set the world on a path towards sustainable development through the adoption of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. This agenda includes 17 Sustainable Development Goals, or SDGs, which set out quantitative objectives across the social, economic, and environmental dimensions of sustainable development – all to be achieved by 2030. The goals provide a framework for shared action for people, planet and prosperity. 2030 Agenda is not only ambitious but also groundbreaking: the undisputed role of industry is taken seriously.
Every company that subscribes to the Voka Charter Sustainable Entrepreneurship commits itself to:
- Integrate sustainable entrepreneurship in a proactive way in its company policy
- To set objectives and concrete actions that fit within the United Nations SDGs
- To report on the results achieved to the evaluation committee
- Communicate externally about the executed actions
- Continuously work on compliance with social, welfare and environmental legislation
With the Voka Charter Sustainable Entrepreneurship Rezinal commits itself to realize a minimum of 10 actions in 1 year time. Rezinal will become the proud owner of the UN's international certificate in case it realizes at least one action within each of the 17 UN Sustainable Development Goals for 3 consecutive years.
