Rezinal recycles zinc ashes (skimmings) from hot-dip galvanising and zinc scrap to zinc metal in two different qualities: Rezinal® 1 (min. 98.5 % Zn) and Rezinal® 2 (min. 98 % Zn).
In order to anticipate changing market conditions, Rezinal is now marketing a low-lead secondary zinc metal alloy for the hot-dip galvanising industry. Its so called Rezinal® 4 quality contains minimum 99.7 % Zn.
Rezinal’s commercial director Dieter Stulens explains: “In recent months we have received a lot of questions from galvanisers whether Rezinal could not supply secondary zinc metal with a low lead content. After all, some galvanisers opted to move away from a traditional zinc-lead bath. With this new alloy we are responding to the increasing demand from the market. Rezinal can now offer the most suitable quality, according to the galvaniser's bath composition.”
There are numerous advantages for the galvaniser in using Rezinal’s secondary zinc metal. In addition to processing the zinc ashes in the most sustainable and eco-friendly way, the galvaniser can also reduce his CO2-emissions by using secondary zinc metal: “Rezinal’s zinc metal has a carbon footprint per kg of zinc of just 0,15 kg, a fraction of the global industry average estimated at 3,96 CO2/kg for refined SHG zinc from ores. This way of working keeps the zinc processing industries’ chain closed and future generations do not lose any valuable raw materials: an important contribution to a better environment and a greener future.”
