Recycling galvanisers ashes
- Galvaniser's ashes are sampled and analysed upon arrival at the plant.
- The raw material is then fed to a hopper and conveyed to one of the ball mills. These separate the metal from the oxide fraction.
- The oxide fraction ("fine galvaniser's ashes") are stored in silos and sold to the market, either in bulk or in big bags/super sacks.
- The metallic fraction is molten in an induction furnace, from which it is poured into a holding furnace. The zinc is casted into 25kg ingots or 1T jumbos.
- The quality of the intermediate products and the end product are continuously sampled and assayed.
